Capacity Building Project for Charity Kitchen Workers and Chefs (March 2024)

As part of its efforts to enhance the capabilities of those involved in providing food assistance, ISF launched a project in March 2024 to build the capacities of chefs and workers in charity kitchens. This project aims to improve the skills and knowledge of these workers, thereby enhancing the efficiency and quality of the food services provided.

Project Goals:

Build Capacities of Chefs and Kitchen Workers:

  • Conduct training workshops on food safety and its importance.
  • Enhance workers’ knowledge of food quality practices and personal hygiene.
  • Emphasize the importance of applying health standards in food handling and preparation.

Distribute Safety and Hygiene Materials to Kitchens:

  • Provide workers with head and foot covers, gloves, and lab coats.
  • Supply kitchens with necessary cleaning and surface sanitizing materials

Monitor and Evaluate Food Safety Practices:

  • Conduct field visits to ensure kitchens adhere to health standards.
  • Evaluate the cleanliness and safety of the provided meals.

Coordination and Cooperation Among Charity Kitchens:

  • Share experiences and good practices among kitchens.
  • Organize regular meetings to discuss challenges and solutions.

Target Group

  • : The project targeted 20 kitchens in the capital city, providing approximately 7,000 daily meals to poor families during Ramadan. The project included training for 60 workers from these kitchens, selected based on precise criteria to ensure maximum benefit from the training.

Partners and Supporters:

The project was implemented in cooperation with several local partners and community initiatives in the capital city.
